Oasis Philosophy

Oasis was created by a team of experienced youth-serving professionals with a shared belief that summer experiences play a critical role in the lives of children. Because too many children do not have access to safe, high quality, enriching programs, Oasis brings high quality programs directly to families where they live and work.

All of our programs are partnerships with other organizations. We understand the importance of being good guests and make sure that the interests and priorities of our partner organizations are always at the forefront of our efforts.

No matter the setting, our distinct approach to youth development stays the same. Each program is a nurturing community in which children learn from positive adult role models. Our staff members build self-esteem through positive reinforcement and kindness, and our culture values participation and encourages children to embrace new experiences.

Oasis programs expose children to a variety of traditional arts and recreational activities. Activities are typically non-competitive in nature. We look at challenges as healthy and fun as long as they bring the group together. We discourage competition or challenges that divide the group or lead to even one child feeling less comfortable in the group.

At Oasis, the primary tool we use to enrich children and foster positive youth development is relationship building. We foster relationships between children and adults and among children and their peers.

The daily activities and programming we create are the stage on which these relationships develop and blossom.
