This summer, become a Certified Lifeguard for FREE!

Why should I consider becoming a lifeguard?

  • Receive your American Red Cross Lifeguard Certification for FREE including First Aid Training and CPR for the Professional Rescuer.

  • Certification classes typically cost up to $400, learn with Oasis for FREE and get paid to have a rewarding experience this summer.

  • Oasis has Summer Lifeguard Jobs available in New Jersey, Long Island, Manhattan, Brooklyn, Queens, and the Bronx.

Daily Responsibilities:

  • As an Oasis lifeguard, you will be responsible for creating a safe, swimming environment for all Oasis Campers.

  • You will be required to be in the water every day teaching children of all ages swimming techniques and how to have fun and be safe in the water.

  • You will be required to participate in all camp activities and provide additional support for Instructor/Group Leader staff when not at the pool.

Course Requirements:
CLASS STARTS EXACTLY ON TIME. Attendance is MANDATORY. Participants are required to bring a bathing suit, towel, goggles, and snacks (if needed). There will be limited time for breaks. For NEW Lifeguards, all dates are MANDATORY. To be eligible for the Lifeguarding Course, you must successfully complete the following on the first day of the course.

  1. 1. Starting in the water, swim 20 yards using front crawl or breaststroke, surface dive 7-10 feet, retrieve a 10 pound object, return to the surface, swim 20 yards back to the starting point with the object and exit the water without using a ladder or steps within 1 minute and 40 seconds
  2. 2. Swim 300 yards continuously using these strokes in the following order (there is no time requirement for this):
    1. 100 yards of front crawl
    2. 100 yards of breaststroke
    3. 100 yards or either front crawl or breaststroke (or any combination)
