STAFF EXPERIENCE AND DEVELOPMENT

At Oasis we provide our staff with training that is both comprehensive and fun. Our interactive training program has several components and is geared to provide each staff member with a common objective. Training includes:

• Computer Based Training is an interactive CD-ROM for you to use to learn at your own pace, in your home. This CD demonstrates our core philosophy, expectations of our staff and some typical situations that may arise at our programs. Completing this training ensures that we all start the summer on the same page, with the same expectations.
• A three-day staff Orientation prior to the campers' arrival will teach you the Oasis philosophy and structure and give you the chance to get to know your fellow staff members. By the end of Orientation, you will have a good understanding of our educational program and our expectations. Summer Staff can click here for a complete listing of orientation dates and locations.
• Staff meetings are held regularly in small and large groups to discuss issues and areas of concern. Oasis has an open-door policy in all of our programs that encourages staff to approach the directors with any issues that arise.

• Oasis provides an accredited undergraduate college course titled “Group Leadership in Youth Programming”. This program is free to all that register and provides staff with the opportunity to translate their summer experience into college credits. In order to get college credit you must talk to your university prior to the summer and then provide your school with the information that is necessary.
• Instructor Resources Oasis has compiled a collection of helpful links to help our instructors with activity ideas, lesson plans, and tips on fun and interesting ways to engage campers.
