STAFF EXPERIENCE AND DEVELOPMENT

At Oasis we provide our staff with training that is both comprehensive and fun. The Oasis Staff Portal is a website that compiles training materials for staff members to utilize both before and during the summer. All hired staff will be required to use their email address to log into the portal and complete any necessary pre-camp training.

The training website, Oasis Staff Portal, will be active from January 2010 through August 2010 and available for all hired staff to access before and continuously throughout their employment in the summer. Access to the Oasis Staff Portal will be provided once the electronic staff contracts have been signed.

Training Resources available on the website will include:

• Computer Based Training is a mandatory interactive online training course that all new staff must complete before attending the 3-day on-site staff orientation. The online course is easy to use to learn at your own pace, in your home. The one-hour online course demonstrates our core philosophy, expectations of our staff and some typical situations that may arise at our programs. Completing this training ensures that we all start the summer on the same page, with the same expectations.
• Course Readings for "Group Leadership in Youth Programming", which Oasis provides as an accredited undergraduate college course. This program is free to all that register and provides staff with the opportunity to translate their summer experience into college credits. Class materials will be posted on the staff training website before and throughout the summer.
• Instructor Resources Oasis has compiled a collection of helpful links to help our instructors with activity ideas, lesson plans, and tips on fun and interesting ways to engage campers.
• Games for Fun and Purpose is a manual of entertaining, team-building, and educational activities that can be used by all staff for engaging children. Group Leaders can use this manual to teach games to campers of any group size and occupying varying lengths of time.
• Training Manuals by Position will be available for staff members to access during the summer to review policies and procedures or position requirements.
