Summer camp is a right of passage for many children. It’s a time for socializing, learning skills, and fun in the sun that gives them memories that last a lifetime. A big part of this fun comes from the games they play at camp, helping them to develop teamwork and creativity while doing something they enjoy. Check out what kind of exciting summer camp games we have in store for kids at Oasis Day Camp.
Outdoor Adventure Games
Oasis Day Camp has a ton of activities and games for campers to enjoy, but the highlight for many will be our outdoor adventure games. Tug of War is always a favorite, pitting two teams against each other in a frenzied display of strength and teamwork that really lets everyone cut loose. Capture the Flag is another that encourages campers to strategize and work together as they score points for their side. We also take campers on nature hikes, letting them get to know the area and have some fun exploring.
Team-Building Games
Many of our activities focus on team-building as a central goal. Sports like soccer, basketball, and volleyball all require teams to play properly, and our counselors help to organize and manage things for fair, fun, and friendly games. Our focus is on bringing out everyone’s individual strengths in ways that benefit their teams, helping them to learn how they can contribute to a greater whole and support each other towards a common goal.
Water Games
Swimming is definitely one of the most fun forms of exercise out there. At Oasis Day Camp, we offer both instructional and recreational swim activities. This includes water games like Marco Polo and even swim races. There’s a place for everyone in our pool, no matter if you like to dive into the deep end or paddle around in the shallows.
Sports and Physical Games
Sports are a big part of any camp experience, and at Oasis Day Camp we offer a variety of options. Kids can play traditional sports like basketball, tennis, and soccer, plus others like kickball. We even provide instruction in martial arts, helping kids to stay active and learn great self-defense skills. We also play a variety of physical games that really get the heart pumping, like freeze tag and relay races. We aim to give kids the chance to play as seriously or casually as they like while still keeping an emphasis on fun and good sportsmanship.
STEM Activities
For kids who are interested in STEM (science, technology, engineering, and math) we have programming that gives our campers hands-on learning experiences in fun and exciting ways! From our Lego Challenge to scratch coding, Sphero robotic bowling, science experiments and more, kids get the chance to engage in many exciting activities while also developing new skills. Even while they’re out of school for the summer, they’ll still be learning new things and having a blast with their friends at camp along the way.
Large Group Games
Oasis Day Camp provides plenty of non-sport activities, too. We play games like Simon Says, Red Rover, Eye Spy, and musical chairs that work great to entertain large groups of any size. We try to keep things simple to make it easier to include everyone with minimal materials, setup, or rule explanations, letting all of us skip straight to the fun. As entertaining as these games are with just a few people, it’s really something to behold when the whole camp plays at once. No one feels left out at our camp.
Rainy Day or Indoor Games
The weather isn’t always as nice as we might want it to be, but don’t get discouraged; there are tons of indoor games we play on rainy days, too. Our camps are ready to go with plenty of board games and puzzles that kids can do in teams or individually. We also set up indoor scavenger hunts to search for hidden treasures, plus games of charades that let everyone show off their creativity. Arts and crafts are also a favorite, even when it’s not pouring outside. Rain or shine, there’s always something to enjoy at Oasis Day Camp.
