Dobbs Ferry Upper Camp Winter Newsletter 2022

Hi-Dee-Hi Oasis Families!

Hope that everyone is having a fantastic holiday season so far & that you’re finishing out the year strong!  My family and I look forward to the winter months as it’s time for family, holidays, & food! But most of it all… it’s HOCKEY SEASON! ???? Between watching it on TV and cheering on my oldest from the stands of his games, we’re keeping pretty busy! (I find myself yelling ALMOST as loud as when we do the Tarzan cheer at morning rally! ????)

We listed some fantastic children’s holiday events in this newsletter so take them all in while you can, because before you know it… it’ll be summertime again! ☀ We’ll be shedding our coats, hats, & gloves for Oasis backpacks and bathing suits!  Making use of tennis rackets, basketballs, & baseball bats instead of needing those frigid shovels & snowblowers! ❄

We’re also excited to be welcoming back some of our favorite guests, including the HollyRock Interactive Game Show, Westchester Circus Arts, & more!  Summer 2023… here we come! ????

Wishing everyone a great holiday season & a happy new year!  Stay safe and warm & we’ll see you at the “morning check-in table” in no time!

Fondly,

Andrew & the Oasis in Dobbs Ferry Upper Camp Team

Crafts

Salt Dough – this simple recipe can be used to make whatever you want. Grab some winter holiday cookie cutters, make some shapes, and let dry. Feel free to paint your creations once they have dried! Make paper weights, ornaments, and gifts for family!

4 cups All-Purpose Flour
1 cup Table Salt
1 ½ cups Warm Water
Add Glitter (paint, and ribbon, for decoration)
Add Polyurethane Spray (for preservation)

Paper Penguins! Grab some orange, black, and white construction paper, glue, a pair of googly eyes, and a pair of scissors to create these LOVEly penguins!

Cut a black oval out for the body, one skinny white heart for the tummy, and three orange hearts. Two will be for the penguin’s feet and one for the beak (make that heart pointier at the bottom).
