Hello! My name is Steve, and I am the full time Camp Director for Oasis Day Camp at LIU Post University.
Oasis Day Camp is locally owned and operated and has been running camps on Long Island for over 20 years. My family and I have been involved in camping for many years. My father was a camp director in the 70’s and early 80’s and of course, I followed in his footsteps. I have had the pleasure of being a Counselor in Training (CIT), counselor, sports specialist, division leader, assistant camp director and for my favorite role- Camp Director. My wife and I grew up going to summer camp, met at camp and we have proudly been passing on the camp tradition to both our children. Now that both our daughter and son are young adults, it gives us pride and pleasure to watch them work at camp and pass along the passion for summer camp to our Oasis family and campers.
I am so excited to share this summer’s program with you. No matter which weeks your campers enroll at camp, I know you will have a safe, fun, and exciting experience, shared with new and old friends, and led by highly dedicated staff.
Time spent at camp offers never ending opportunities for campers and staff to create memories for life. Campers will learn life skills and experience social growth. Campers discover a safe space to explore and try new things while they are away from the stress of school. Whether kicking a soccer ball, dancing at a morning rally, and/or laughing with friends and counselors, campers can’t help but sense something bigger than themselves. They experience a community that welcomes them because of the things that make them individuals.
